Home Disciplines Junior Shooters Program
Junior Shooters Program

Program Description:

This is a firearms safety training course that is offered and available to any youngster, between the ages of 8 and 18, regardless of gender, race, creed, religion, etc. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H or members of any youth organization are all welcome.

The course of instruction is being taught by NRA Certified instructors and is being taught in accordance with the National Rifle Association program of instruction.

Safe handling of firearms is taught and is paramount in the course of instruction. Shooting Sports have the safest record of all youth sports and this program is conducted in a manner to assure that record will continue.

The course will teach rifle safety, good citizenship, shooting techniques and the mechanics of firearms. While achievement is encouraged, there is no shooting skill achievement level required to complete the course. The juniors will be instructed utilizing pellet rifles, which are appropriate for all body sizes.

At the present we offer eight (8) pre-sessions classes at an initial cost of thirty dollars. The classes will be held at Mid-Carolina indoor shooting range. All of the pre-sessions will incorporate the usage of shooting materials and the introduction to handling an air rifle. During the shooting phase, instruction will be given in prone, kneeling and standing positions. Daisy air rifles (pellets) will be utilized during these sessions.

The shooters that wish to continue will have the opportunity to join the Junior Shooting program.
This will encompass the arena of two (2) disciplines for the U.S.A.
The first will be Position Shooting. This is the Sporter Division, which is the beginning introduction of air rifle. Then there is Precision Shooting the same format as the sporter division but with a more sophisticated rifle and shooting attire.

The approximate cost is $30.00 per student (subject to change).

The club will provide the following: rifles, ammunition (pellets), targets, textbooks, awards, and companionship.
